Baby Signs Potty Training

At what age do toddlers start showing interest in Potty Training?
I just wanted to know at what age is the normal average that toddlers start showing signs that they are ready to begin potty training.
I know all babies are different, but I just wanted to know what was around normal, and when your babies began potty training.
Thanks!
I do agree that nappies at kindergarten is ridiculous, unless of course the child is special needs, or has issues with incompetence.
I have a colleague who hasn’t even begun attempting Toilet Training her 3 year old, but she did say she would when summer comes, because ‘the weather is better for it’ so she claims.
My son wasn’t ready until a couple weeks shy of his third birthday. He knew what it meant, in an abstract way, like mommy and daddy go on the toilet and I’m supposed to. He even sat clothed and unclothed on his potty from 16 months on, and had all the “signs” that he was ready to train for eons (hiding, telling me he had gone etc) but he absolutely refused to use one himself until he was almost three. Then, one day he just was ready, and three or four days later he was completely done potty training, dry all day, during naps and at night.
My daughter, 18 months, has been showing signs that she’s getting ready for a couple months now. It’s the cutest thing — she asks to go on the potty and will sit there and grunt and groan, then climb off all proud of herself, a grin from ear to ear. Makes me laugh every time! But, a big part of it is that she sees big brother doing it and she wants to imitate everything he does. While she can take off her pullups and understands some of it, she’s not quite there yet. She only recently started hiding sometimes when going and she doesn’t want to sit on the potty for a long enough time to actually go or have an accident that I can praise. But, I think she will be ready much sooner than my son.
My personal opinion, every child reaches that point at different ages. I try really hard not to stress about it. It’ll come when it comes. Although, I will say it would be super nice to be done with diapers!
